Ashgabat and Riyadh to expand partnership in fuel and energy sector

The sides noted the importance of stepping up joint work on the realization of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.

On March 15, the Turkmen delegation led by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Berdiniyaz Matiev held an online meeting with the executive director of the Arab company Somo Al Mamlakah — Abdullah Al Shugairi. They discussed the development of cooperation in the field of energy, as well as the implementation of joint work on promoting the construction of the TAPI project, as reported by the press office of the MFA of Turkmenistan.

The meeting participants discussed the promising aspects of bilateral cooperation in some sectors of the economy.

The focus was made on the fact that Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia are interested in the effective expansion of mutually beneficial partnerships in the oil and gas and chemical industries. The parties plan to take measures for the further development of the investment area.

It must be added that the private organization Somo Al Mamlakah has previously confirmed its readiness to invest in gas projects. Besides, the world’s largest oil company Saudi Aramco has studied the prospects of participating in the financing of the TAPI gas pipeline project.
