Tokayev sets out priorities for prosecutor’s offices

These include the tasks of taking preventive actions to reduce the risk of social conflicts.
On February 15, President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting with the high-ranking officials of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Representatives of the prosecutor’s offices in the regions joined the meeting via a video conference. The priority tasks to the law enforcement agency had been set during the meeting, the press office of Akorda reported.
The President dwelt on the localisation of the potential hotbeds of discontent among the population as a crucial aspect of activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office. The leader of Kazakhstan set the priority tasks of taking preventive actions to reduce the risk of social conflicts.
The President instructed to energise the work in detecting and supressing the violations related to pay settlements, unfair layoffs and other antisocial behaviour in the mechanisms of labour relations with the population. The President spotlighted some positive aspects of this work.
In 2020, the wage arrears amounting to 2.7 billion tenge had been paid to 29,000 citizens thanks to the actions taken by the prosecutor’s offices, the President said. Tokayev highlighted the need to continue this work, as there were signs of rising tension at some enterprises.
Addressing representatives of the prosecutor’s offices in the regions, the President called on them to be more active. They should take proactive steps and achieve an optimal and legal balance in each case, the leader of Kazakhstan added.
