Mirziyoyev to pay official visit to Moscow

Abdulla Aripov and Mikhail Mishustin discussed the preparation of the official event.

As part of a trip to Almaty, at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan met with his colleague from Russia Mikhail Mishustin. They discussed the preparation of the business visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Moscow, which was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19. For this reason, the meeting of the Russian-Uzbek legal commission was postponed to March-April, as reported by the press office of the Russian government.

— A solid package of documents for signing is worked out. We are also preparing a rich program for the upcoming state visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, — said Russian prime-minister.

Besides, both sides informed each other that they work hard to ensure that the upcoming event takes place and the exact dates will be determined soon.

Mishustin said that the Russian government expects active assistance in the issue of mass vaccination against the pandemic from Uzbekistan. Abdulla Aripov agreed with that. The participants discussed joint projects aimed at solving the problem.

In turn, Aripov thanked the Russian side for cooperation in the implementation of some reforms carried out in the country, mainly in the tax system. In addition, the Uzbek official expressed sincere gratitude for humanitarian support. One of the large-scale projects in this area — «Class» — started its activity at the end of 2020. Its goal is to improve the quality of teaching the Russian language in the republic.

The Russian politician also informed the interlocutors that, despite the difficulties created by the coronavirus, trade between countries increased by 17%, that is, by 5.3 billion dollars.

Earlier the heads of the states outlined a goal to increase these indicators to 10 billion dollars per year.
