Japarov and Abdygulov discuss priority plans of National Bank for 2021

At the same time, the head of the state was informed about the current situation in the currency and financial markets of Kyrgyzstan.

On February 4, President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held a meeting with the head of the National Bank of the country, Tolkunbek Abdygulov. They raised important issues related to the preliminary results of the banking sector’s work over the past year and top-priority plans for 2021, as reported by the press office of the president.

Japarov was informed about measures to support the real sector of the economy, to overcome the impact and consequences of coronavirus infection. The officials also discussed the current situation in the financial and foreign exchange markets of the country, measures to smooth the swing of the exchange rate of som.

The head of the National Bank stressed that the financial system of Kyrgyzstan showed good indicators in 2020.

According to Abdygulov, the National Bank managed to keep inflation within the medium-term targets of 5-7%. Besides, the positive indicators of the banking sector remained: the loan portfolio increased by 11% (amounting to 162.6 billion soms), deposits in banks increased by 19,9% (amounting to 180.9 billion soms).
