Berdimuhamedov expresses dissatisfaction with the work done in Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector

The President severely reprimanded the Chairmen of Turkmengaz, Turkmennebit and Turkmengeologiya, Director of TKNPZ and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers in charge of the fuel and energy sector.

On February 2, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held an online meeting on the issues related to Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector. The Turkmen leader had expressed dissatisfaction with the work done by the above agencies, the Turkmenistan Today News Agency reported.

The Turkmen leader noted that the environment in the oil markets was characterised by volatility.  Crude oil and oil product consumption has decreased due to the pandemic, which has a negative impact on manufacturing and financial performance of Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector, since oil products are one of Turkmenistan’s key exports.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction with the work done by the Turkmengaz Concern, headed by Batyr Amanov. Dwelling on the shortcomings, the Turkmen leader said more attention should be paid to modernizing infrastructure, increasing the productivity of gas fields and creating favourable working conditions.

The President expressed dissatisfaction with the work done by the Turkmennebit Concern, headed by Guychgeldi Baygeldiev. Commenting on his report, the Turkmen leader pointed to the slow pace of work.

The leader of Turkmenistan pointed to the shortcomings and instructed Chairman of the Turkmengeologiya State Corporation Merdan Rozyev to intensify mineral exploration activities on oil fields.

The leader of Turkmenistan reprimanded General Director of Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries Dovran Chishiyev for the slow pace of work. The President highlighted the need to rise oil refining efficiency and increase production of quality eco-products from ‘black gold’.

Rector of the International University of Oil and Gas Shahym Abdrahmanov reported that the University trained specialists in 23 professional areas. Noting that the oil and gas sector was experiencing a shortage of highly skilled personnel, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to enhance cooperation of the educational institution with international universities, as well as to encourage more Turkmen students to participate in international contests.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers in charge of the fuel and energy sector Myratgeldi Meredov reported on the work done. Noting that oil production in the country had dropped, the Turkmen leader instructed the official to ensure that oil and gas wells were repaired and reconstructed. The emphasis was put on attracting foreign investment in the industry. The President said an e-Tendering Platform in the oil and gas sector had not been created.

Amanov, Baygeldiev, Rozyev, Chishiyev and Meredov were severely reprimanded with a final warning.
