President of Uzbekistan receives delegation from Pakistan

The politicians considered relevant issues of the development of relations in various sectors of the economy.

On February 2, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a meeting with the special representative of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Abdul Razak Davud, who arrived in Tashkent. The parties exchanged views on improving mutually beneficial cooperation between the two states. They considered issues related to the growth of the volume of trade and the increase in the number of joint projects of leading enterprises, as reported by the press office of the president.

The head of Uzbekistan stressed that despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, active contacts and exchanges continue, and they contribute to the progressive expansion of practical cooperation. Joint projects that support friendly, economic political relations that affect the interests of both countries are implemented.

The Pakistani representative thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings and best wishes to the president on behalf of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The official noted that Pakistan supports the initiative to advance the project for the construction of railways through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. With the help of this project, it is possible to connect Central and South Asia by the shortest route. It, in turn, will make it possible to effectively use the infrastructure of Pakistani seaports.

Besides, the politicians considered all possible ways for the development of road and air freight, as well as issues on the development of an agreement on preferential trade, exchange of experience in the field of customs.
