Berdimuhamedov inspects construction progress for hotel, shopping centre and highway

The world-class hotel Garagum with a multipurpose business centre will open to mark the 30th anniversary of independence.

On January 26, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had visited the construction sites of a new hotel Garagum, a park, a shopping and entertainment centre and Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway in Ashgabat, the Turkmenistan Today News Agency reported.

The hotel with a multipurpose business centre, located at the intersection of A. Niyazov Avenue and Hoja Ahmet Yasavi Street, will open to mark the 30th anniversary of independence. The 9-storey hotel will have 87 comfortable rooms (standard, suite, deluxe and super deluxe). The building complex will include restaurants, a banquet hall, swimming pools, fitness rooms and a tennis court. The business centre will have fully equipped meeting rooms.

The central building takes the form of golden sand waves, symbolising the Karakum Desert. The architectural ensemble comprises a yurt.

There will be a park with an area of 9.75 hectares nearby. On its territory there will be 9 fountains and 3 swimming pools. Berdimuhamedov proposed to name the park Laçyn (translated from the Turkmen word means "falcon"). According to the leader of the country, this is a good name, since the Ashgabat international airport, which has the shape of a corresponding bird, is located nearby.

The total area of the shopping and entertainment center will be about 90 thousand square meters. meters, and the height is 40 meters. Inside the building there will be a multi-level parking lot with an area of over 54 thousand square meters. meters.

The high-speed highway Ashgabat-Turkmenabat will have a length of about 600 km. This autobahn will expand the potential of the country's transport and transit infrastructure, as well as strengthen economic ties between the states along the Silk Road.

This route will be docked with the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi highway and will start at an intersection on the Ashgabat-Dashoguz highway. The corresponding project will be implemented in 3 stages. The first section of the Ashgabat-Tejen autobahn will be commissioned this year, the second - Tejen-Mary - in December next year, and the third section of Mary-Turkmenabat - in December 2023.

The highway will consist of three main lanes. There will be one extra strip on each side. The width of the road will be 34.5 meters. The Autobahn will provide freight trucks with access to the international seaport in Turkmenbashi and further to the Caucasus and European regions, as well as to the southern part of the Russian Federation and the northern provinces of Iran.
