Kyrgyz deputies propose to open casino near Issyk-Kul airport

The officials noted that due to the ban on gambling, the budget loses more than 600 million soms every year.

On January 25, the parliament of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan submitted a draft law for public discussion, which relates to amendments of some legislative acts of the state on gambling, as reported by the press office of the legislative body of the government.

According to the draft law, Kyrgyz parliamentarians Baktybek Turusbekov and Dastanbek Jumabekov proposed to re-authorize the operation of gambling establishments on the territory of the republic to replenish the state budget. In particular, the deputies proposed to open a casino near the Issyk-Kul airport.

According to the initiators of the bill, the country’s budget annually loses more than 600 million soms and several thousand jobs due to the ban on gambling.

They reminded that since 2012, gambling has been prohibited in Kyrgyzstan to protect vulnerable segments of the population who are addicted to gambling.

Thus, taking into account the relevant policy of the state, the bill allows only foreign citizens to visit casinos and gamble there.
