Head of Humo Trans air ticket office arrested for fraud

The intruder offered citizens fake sickness certificates to travel abroad.

On January 13, officers of the Department for Combating Corruption and Economic Crimes of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service of Uzbekistan detained the head of the Humo Trans air ticket office (citizen K.E.), for taking a bribe in the amount of 1,450 dollars. It was reported by the press office of MIA on January 18.

The employee of the ticket office offered paid help abroad under quarantine restrictions. He promised to make a certificate of a serious health condition which would lead to the need for urgent treatment in another country.

In this particular case, the certificate was necessary for the citizen to leave for Russia.

The head of the Humo Trans air ticket office deceived 79 people with this «criminal type of service», taking 1,200 US dollars per single person. The Investigation Department under the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate opened a criminal case against the bribe-taker under the article «Fraud committed on an especially large scale». He was arrested and the investigation is underway.

It must be added that in December last year, at the Sheremetyevo airport, several hundred citizens of Uzbekistan were detained, trying to illegally get to Russia with fake medical certificates. Currently, due to the global pandemic, entry into the country has been tightened in many countries, which forces people to look for roundabout methods and use fraudulent services.
