United States, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan create an investment ‘trio’

The three states intend to invest US$ 1 billion to promote private sector development over five years.

The Governments of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the United States announced the the launch of the Central Asia Investment Partnership. A Joint Statement was posted on the portal of the US diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan on January 7.

The Joint Statement says that through this initiative, the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), together with the Governments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, will make all possible efforts to raise at least $1 billion over five years to support projects that advance private-sector led growth and increase economic connectivity within Central Asia.

Preference will be given to innovative business ideas. The investment ‘trio” aims to take advantage of opportunities for increasing trade and promoting interaction among the Central Asian countries in other promising areas.

“As the region seeks to recover from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, such cooperation and resilience is more important than ever,” US Ambassador to Kazakhstan William Moser said.
