The leaders of Russia and Tajikistan also discussed the prospects of interstate relations during a telephone conversation.
On December 29, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The parties summed up the results of interstate cooperation and exchanged New Year greetings, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.
Rahmon wished every success, prosperity and progress to citizens of Russia. The parties noted that the two states were able to make progress in implementing the plans for 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Particular attention was paid to the success of the all-Russian vote on amendments to the fundamental law of the country. Emphasis was put on the positive results of the parliamentary and presidential elections in Tajikistan.
Vladimir Putin and Emomali Rahmon agreed to expand cooperation between the two countries in various areas in 2021. The leaders of the two countries underscored the importance of building up regional security cooperation, as well as international relations.
