The Chairperson of the RF Federation Council expressed her New Year wishes during a telephone conversation with the Speaker of Parliament of Turkmenistan.
On December 28, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko had a telephone conversation with Speaker of Parliament of Turkmenistan Gulshat Mammedova. During the conversation, she expressed her New Year wishes to citizens of Turkmenistan, the Turkmenistan Today News Agency reports.
Matvienko expressed her New Year wishes to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and all citizens of the Central Asian country. She emphasised that the United Nations had declared the new 2021 year as the International Year of Peace and Trust at the initiative of the Turkmen leader.
The Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly underscored the significance of the status of neutrality that Turkmenistan gained 25 years ago. She said that this foreign policy strategy played an important role in modern international relations.
Matvienko also said that President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and RF President Vladimir Putin paid particular attention to promoting inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries. She noted that the legislatures of Turkmenistan and Russia actively interacted within the CIS.
The Chairperson of the RF Federation Council emphasised that the creation of a bicameral parliament in Turkmenistan in 2021 opened up broad prospects for inter-parliamentary relations.
