Epidemic situation in Kyrgyzstan gets worse amid protests

Minister of Health stressed that due to the recent incidents, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country increases.

On October 8, at a meeting of the government apparatus of Kyrgyzstan Sabirjan Abdikarimov, the Minister of Health, announced the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in Bishkek and the regions of the country. According to him, recent events with a mass gathering of people on the streets and non-compliance with sanitary standards make the situation even worse. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Kyrgyz Cabinet.

In the last 24 hours, 245 citizens have been infected with a dangerous disease, and deaths were recorded. Considering the current situation, the official noted the need to expand work on making citizens follow the basic sanitary and epidemiological standards.

— Many people come from the regions to the city and go back because of the unrest. There is a risk of spreading the disease since many of them do not follow sanitary norms. At the same time, the weather gets cold and that will lead to an increase in the number of cases of influenza, — said Abdikarimov.

It must be added that in Bishkek after the rally and taking over the «White House» a number of protests take place and crowds gather again.
