Uzbek National Bank joins Russian analogue of SWIFT

Head of VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov marked that all banks of the SCO countries are welcome to join the system.

In Tashkent, during a Russian business mission, VEB.RF Chairman Igor Shuvalov and the head of the National Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Uzbekistan (NBU) Alisher Mirsoatov signed an agreement on the basic conditions for using the financial messaging system (FMS) of the Bank of Russia in mutual operations. The agreement determined the accession of the NBU to the FMS. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Russian state corporation on September 17.

— It is a step towards reducing transaction costs in interbank operations, an important basis for diversifying settlements through the use of national currencies, — said Shuvalov.

According to him, the chairman of the interbank association of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization — VEB.RF invites all banks of the SCO countries to join the FMS of the Bank of Russia.

He also noted that several projects on financing the supply of Russian high-tech products to Uzbekistan are currently at various stages of development. Ruble financing of these deliveries is the main one among the considered payment methods.

In turn, Alisher Mirsoatov underlined that the NBU is the first bank among the financial institutions of Uzbekistan, which has joined the Russian system of the financial messaging system.

Moreover, VEB.RF and the leasing company Kamaz Asia Leasing signed a loan agreement to finance the acquisition of KAMAZ special equipment by Uzbekistan. As part of the credit transaction, VEB.RF is expected to open a credit line with a limit of 12.5 million euros to finance the acquisition of about 250 cars of the brand.

It must be added that 15 projects worth 63 billion rubles are implemented, and another 19 projects worth 542 billion rubles are under consideration in Uzbekistan with the participation of VEB.RF and the Russian Export Center.
