President of Uzbekistan congratulates citizens on Independence Day

The Uzbek leader gave a speech at the Kuksaroi complex on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the country’s independence.

Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated citizens on the 29th anniversary of the country’s independence. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the president on August 31.

— No matter what difficulties we face, no matter what success and results we achieve, the idea of independence, the spirit of freedom have always been a great support for us, — said Mirziyoyev.

He noted that in recent years, the foundation of a new era of revival — the Third Renaissance — has been coming to Uzbekistan.

According to the president, the coronavirus and the global economic crisis, as well as natural disasters in the Bukhara and Syrdarya regions, have become a serious test for all citizens of the country. Today, important issues are solved: problems in the healthcare, economy. The government also created necessary conditions for work.

The head of the state marked that, despite the epidemic and quarantine, local authorities started the work on the development of industry and agriculture, the creation of modern industries. Since the beginning of the year, the volume of exports reached 9 billion dollars.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also thanked the IMF, WB, ADB, IDB, EBRD, AIIB for all-round assistance in joint programs and projects, as well as for the support in the fight against coronavirus.

— I strongly believe in the wisdom and determination of our people, which have remarkable human characteristics such as solidarity, real courage, especially now, in such a difficult time, — added the Uzbek leader.

This year, Independence Day is celebrated in the country on August 30, 31, and September 1. The festivity is not so big due to the epidemic.

It must be added that on August 31, 1991, an extraordinary 7th session of the Supreme Council of the Uzbek SSR was held in Tashkent. The state independence of Uzbekistan was proclaimed on this day.
