Afghan citizens ask Rahmon for help

Residents of the IRA told the president about the problems with drinking water, electricity and communications.

On August 19, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon made a working trip to Darvaz. During the visit, he talked to the citizens of Afghanistan who had gathered on the other side of the border. They asked him for help in solving several problems. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the head of the republic.

Residents of the neighboring state decided to gather on the bank of the Panj River. At that time Rahmon was going to the Chorchaman boarding house. The Afghanis told the President of Tajikistan that they have problems with drinking water and electricity. According to them there is no communication and normal roads on the territory of their settlement.

Rahmon, in turn, noted that all problems will certainly be solved within the cooperation between the countries. Afghan citizens thanked the Tajik leader for the opportunity to meet with him.

It must be added that on July 21, Emomali Rahmon instructed the republic’s defense ministry to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border. He focused on the deterioration of the situation in the south of the Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous province. The President claimed extremism, international crime, drug trafficking, and terrorism the main problems arising in the relevant territory.
