Turkmenistan ranked as safest country in the world

The zero level of the terrorist threat in the country was determined as part of research by the Institute of Economics and Peace.

Turkmenistan has once again been ranked as one of the safest states in the world. The country occupies the last position in the Global Terrorism Index 2019. The relevant results were obtained within research by the Institute of Economics and Peace. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the IEP analytical center on August 10.

According to the data provided, Turkmenistan is on the 138th (last) place of the rating. It means that the state has a zero level of the terrorist threat. The category also includes 26 more countries, including Belarus, Portugal, Cuba, Singapore.

At the moment, Turkmenistan is the only country in Central Asia where there is no terrorist activity. And the country shares a border with the most dangerous state of the rating — Afghanistan.

It should be mentioned that it is not the first time that international experts have ranked Turkmenistan as one of the safest countries. The state occupied similar position in the relevant list in 2017 and 2018.

On January 14 at a forum on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the country’s neutrality, Natalya German, head of the UNRCCA, noted that the UN commends the contribution of Turkmenistan to ensuring peace and security at the regional and global levels.
