Berdimuhamedov phones leaders of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey

The presidents congratulated each other on Kurban Bayram, and discussed expanding partnerships and fighting the pandemic.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had telephone conversations with the leaders of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey on July 31. He congratulated his colleagues on the Islamic holiday Kurban Bayram, and also raised the issue of strengthening cooperation, in particular in the fight against the pandemic, as reported by «Turkmenistan today».

The Turkmen leader wished prosperity and abundance to the heads of the states and peoples of the relevant countries. According to him, Eid al-Adha will further strengthen intergovernmental relations. Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Head of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude to Berdimuhamedov for his contribution to the development of fraternal ties between the countries. The leader of Turkmenistan thanked the head of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his help in the fight against coronavirus.

During the telephone conversations, special attention was attached to the agreement between Turkmenistan, the IRA, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey on the realization of the Lapis Lazuli transit transport corridor. The topic of combating the pandemic was also in the spotlight. Berdimuhamedov placed emphasis on the importance of consolidating efforts in this direction.

It must be added that a meeting of representatives of the trilateral working group on expanding cooperation in the sphere of transport and communications between Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Azerbaijan took place on July 27. The online negotiations were focused on pricing policy within transnational freight transport.
