Turkmenistan enters TOP 10 states with cheapest gasoline

Relevant information was provided by the International Energy Agency.

Turkmenistan has become one of ten countries in the world with the lowest gas prices. The relevant information is based on data for 2019 from the International Energy Agency. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press-office of IEA on June 18.

According to statistics, gas prices worldwide dropped by 2% last year. The cost of a liter of the fuel in Turkmenistan at the moment is 1.5 manats (0.43 dollars). The country is in second place on the list after Algeria (0.33 dollars per liter). In this situation, Turkmenistan is the country with the cheapest gasoline among CIS countries.

The agency noted that low gas prices were reached due to government policies, in particular tax burdens and subsidies.

It should be mentioned that a giant plant for the production of gasoline of natural gas was opened in Turkmenistan on June 28, 2019. One of the main features of the enterprise is the ability to produce synthetic gasoline ECO-93, which meets the Euro-5 standard. The cost of 1 liter of such gasoline is 2 manats (0.60 dollars).

The project was implemented by Turkmengaz State Concern together with Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Rönesans companies. According to international researches, the gas emitted by a car fueled with ECO-93 has a minimum amount of substances that are harmful to the air.
