The president of Turkmenistan approved the decision due to the unstable epidemiological situation in the world.
Tourism, mass events, as well as swimming in the Caspian Sea will be restricted in Avaza, the tourist zone of Turkmenistan. The initiative was put forward by the emergency commission for combating the spread of diseases and approved by the president at a cabinet meeting on May 15, as reported by “Turkmenistan Today”.
Minister of Health Nurmukhammet Amannepesov noted that due to the unstable epidemiological situation in the world the scientists predict the second wave of the pandemic. In this regard he underlined that it is necessary to restrict the recreation for Turkmen citizens in the summer season in Avaza. Particular emphasis was placed on swimming in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea.
The relevant issue on the organization of recreational activities was considered by the emergency commission for combating the spread of diseases. The process was initiated upon the instructions of the head of the state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Corresponding work was also carried out in other regions of the country.
Following the meetings with representatives of the UN, WHO, and several other international organizations, the Turkmen government developed a plan to ensure preparedness to fight coronavirus.
As of May 15, no cases of COVID-19 infection have been recorded in the state.
