Turkmenistan and UK to expand financial partnership

It includes the realization of investment projects with the “UK Export Finance” agency.

The governments of Turkmenistan and the UK will expand partnerships in the financial sector. It includes the implementation of specific investment projects. The issue was discussed by Turkmen officials and representatives of the “UK Export Finance”s agency on May 8. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by "NEBIT-GAZ". The employees of the Ministry of Finance and Economics of Turkmenistan, representatives of the government export credit agency, and the British ambassador took part in the event. They discussed prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, in particular in the processing industry, electric power industry, construction, social infrastructure, and water use.

According to the officials a memorandum of cooperation will be an important step in this direction. Vomic Nur Shah, the regional director of the foreign agency, stressed that the structure is ready to assist British companies in developing a partnership with Turkmenistan, as well as in expanding the range of services provided in the state.

It should be added that in February 2020, the Turkmen delegation met with the management of UK Export Finance in London. During the meeting, the parties discussed the main directions of further cooperation with the “Turkmengaz” state concern and several other country’s agencies.

At the seventh meeting of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council held in Ashgabat in 2019 Shah noted that the United Kingdom allocated about 1.2 billion dollars for relevant companies in Turkmenistan.
