Turkmenistan and UNDP to improve well-being of citizens

The process will be implemented as part of the next Country Programme for 2021–2025.

Turkmen government and UNDP intend to expand work on improving the welfare of citizens. The topic was touched as part of the discussion of the new Country Programme for 2021–2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 28. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the UNDP press service.

The permanent representative of the UN Development Program, Natia Natsvlishvili, the UN coordinator in the state, Elena Panova, and the representative of the MFA, Magtymguly Akmyradov took part in the meeting.

It was highlighted that the new project will be aimed at improving the well-being of Turkmen citizens. Participants of the event underlined that the relevant process will be focused on strengthening the rule of law and economic diversification, protecting human rights, strengthening and stimulating the private sector, improving the healthcare system, and social integration of people.

The program will also increase the country's resilience to climate change, in particular to the risks of natural disasters. Particular attention will be paid to the rational use of water and land resources.

During the negotiations, the parties noted that the country programme document will be shortly finalized and submitted for adoption by the UNDP Executive Board.
