WHO reports no cases of coronavirus in Tajikistan and Turkmenistan

More than 700 COVID-19 researches conducted in Tajikistan showed negative results.

There are no official COVID-19 cases reported in Tajikistan and Turkmenistan to date. The announcement was made by the WHO representative in Tajikistan Galina Perfilieva on March 31. It was reported by “Tajikistan” TV channel.

She underlined that at the moment, the citizens have nothing to be afraid of, since, according to the official data from the World Health Organization, there is no coronavirus in the countries. It was emphasized that there were very few places in the world where the infection hadn’t been discovered yet. However, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are exceptions, due to their effective state strategy for the prevention of coronavirus disease.

Perfilieva added that WHO is actively collaborating with the relevant laboratories of the two states that conduct PCR testing. According to her, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are the only countries out of 53 infected ones in the region where COVID-19 cases are not registered. The representative of an international organization added that to date more than 700 coronavirus researches have been conducted in the Republic of Tajikistan. She stressed that all the results were negative.
