Trapeznikov indicates role of textile industry in Turkmen economy

Analyst on Turkmenistan, candidate of economic sciences Valentine Trapeznikov claims that share of the sector in industrial production is 11,5-12,3%.

Textile sector is of great importance for the Turkmen economy. Share of industry in relevant production is 11,5-12,3%. It was noted by analyst on Turkmenistan, candidate of economic sciences Valentine Trapeznikov on January 4, as reported by online-radio “SNG.FM”.

— The dynamic development of the textile complex is based on significant investments.  The level of financial input exceeds related rate in 2007 by more than 7 times — outlined expert.

He also marked that today 85 enterprises operate in the structure of the textile industry. They produce cotton and blended yarns, various fabrics, knitwear, finished sewing and jeans products. Trapeznikov added that almost 30 000 people work at the enterprises.

Turkmenistan exported 65.3 thousand tons of cotton yarn for 184.8 million dollars in 10 months of the last year. It is 31% more than the figure of the same period in 2018. Export of Turkmen textile products to other countries in January-October of the last year increased by 43.4%.

Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan has sold 14.6% more products than in 2018 according to the relevant statistics for 2019. Increase in turnover was stimulated by the expansion of the range of goods and active marketing.

On January 7-10, 2020 Turkmen carpets and textile products will be exhibited at the Heimtextil International Trade Fair in Frankfurt am Main (Germany).
