Private sector of Turkmenistan works on meeting high eco-standards

American company “Westport Trading Europe Limited” follows the environmental requirements and regulations in this work.

Turkmen government carries out relevant work in the frame of environmental protection. In order to preserve ecological balance national authorities actively work on modernization of industrial production, integration of effective and eco-friendly technologies. American company “Westport Trading Europe Limited” (WTL) follows the principles of environmental protection and rational use of natural resources. It was underlined by Doctor of Technical Sciences, expert Allaberdi Ilyasov on February 2, as reported by online radio «SNG.FM».

The expert points out that the construction of new enterprises, renovation and modernization of operating processing units and other facilities at Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TCOR) is realized with use of modern technologies and technical solutions. And that allows preventing environmental damage.

The practice of rational use of natural resources has a positive and beneficial influence on TCOR. It includes cost reduction based on savings as a result of disposal, selling by-products and production waste. There is also an income growth: higher prices for environmentally friendly products, higher competitiveness, production of completely new types of goods, increase in demand for traditional types of products with better environmental indicators. The advantages of the strategic plan include a favorable image in front of partners, the ability to constantly expand the range of products, - said Ilyasov.

The expert also highlighted that effective realization of relevant approaches requires pursuing targeted macroeconomic policy. Doctor of Technical Sciences also noted that safeguarding the environment and sustainable management of natural resources depend on the level of economic development. Ilyasov marked that preserving ecological balance is determined by characteristics of the territory, natural resources and local production of materials. That’s why strong production cooperation plays an important role in ensuring environmental stability.

It must be mentioned that in 1992 the heads of 114 states and representatives of 1,600 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) met within the framework of the UN Conference on Environment and Development. It was the most impressive ecological forum of the 20th century. Five fundamental documents were approved during the summit. One of them is the Rio De Janeiro Declaration on Environment and Development, which has become the basis of the environmental law in many countries. These states have created regulatory principles of environmental protection.
