Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan would grow to $5 billion

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev summed up the results of negotiations with the President of Uzbekistan.

On April, 14th, 2019, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Tashkent in order to meet with the head of Uzbekistan. As a result of the negotiations held between the leaders of the republics on April, 15th, it became known that Kazakhstan was planned to increase a value of trade with the neighbor to $5 billion. This information was reported to centralasia.news by the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the government’s work for normalization and improvement of the business environment in Kazakhstan has yielded positive results. The number of Kazakh-Uzbek joint enterprises has grown significantly. The Kazakh leader noted the successful cooperation in the automotive industry. The development of this industry is very important for both countries. It means that cooperation in this sphere will continue to expand. 

Also, the states’ leaders discussed creation of the International Center for Trade and Economic Cooperation and a large scale trade and logistics hub for the whole Central Asian region.

According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the negotiations were held in keeping with the spirit of mutual understanding and openness.
