Over 610,000 citizens of Russia visited Uzbekistan in the first 9 months of 2024, and the number of guests in the Republic could reach 1 million by the end of the year, Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov said at a meeting in Primorsky Krai, the press office of the Government of Primorsky Krai reported.
Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako said it would be useful for children from Primorsky Krai to visit summer camps in the Republic to learn about new culture and history and make friends.
The authorities of Primorsky Krai are considering opening a representative office in the Republic. It will be tasked to promote tourism and foster cultural exchange, including Russian language teaching and the popularisation of Russian literature. The initiatives are to be implemented in several stages, with focus on forging tourism partnerships next year.
The interlocutors discussed youth exchanges, including the participation of Uzbek athletes in the Children of Asia Games, the Children of Primorye Games and the Youth of Primorye Games. The parties noted the successful development of educational cooperation — about 800 students from Uzbekistan currently study at higher education institutions in Primorsky Krai.
