Tajikistan-Iran trade exceeds $300 million

A meeting between Head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture Samad Hassanzadeh and Ambassador of Tajikistan Nizamiddin Zahidi focused on the prospects for expanding economic cooperation. Bilateral trade exceeded $300 million in the first 9 months of the year, Sputnik reports.

The Tajik diplomat emphasised that the common language and cultural traditions should lay the groundwork for the expansion of cooperation between the countries.

It is planned to abolish visas for citizens of the two countries and intensify business contacts to achieve the goal — to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion.

The Ambassador of Tajikistan invited the Head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture to lead a business delegation to the Republic. Particular emphasis was placed on Tajikistan’s demand for Iran’s energy resources; the Republic needs about a million tonnes of oil annually.
