Kyrgyzstan to set up Disaster Monitoring Centre

Speaking at the COP29 Climate Change Summit in Baku, the representatives of Kyrgyzstan focused on new approaches to addressing climate change and its impacts. Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Bekzhan Rysmendeyev presented a project of a natural disaster monitoring centre based on digital technology, Report reports.

Speaking at the Roundtable on Sustainable and Digital Middle Corridor and Beyond, Rysmendeyev said a key element of the new system will be a digital roadmap that will interconnect the existing automated services of the Ministry and facilitate the introduction of modern data collection and processing methods.

According to Rysmendeyev, this project is needed to counter climate change that poses a serious threat to sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan.
