On November 15, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov informed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov about the proposals for the improvement of information support for foreign policy activities at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Turkmenistan: Golden Age eNewspaper reported.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted the opening of the department of foreign policy information and digital diplomacy under the Ministry in August this year. It is tasked to raise awareness of the international community about Turkmenistan using modern communication technologies. In this regard, Rashid Meredov proposed establishing the position of press attaché at diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan in several countries to improve information support.
The diplomat proposed concluding bilateral cooperation agreements and accrediting employees of Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan Magazine abroad and creating a Digital Integration Zone inviting talented young people to work in this area.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of consistently improving information support for foreign policy activities in the context of widely using modern methods and sustaining interactions with foreign news agencies. The President approved the proposals and ordered the necessary measures be taken.
