Speaking at the European Economy Days in Tashkent, EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan Toivo Klaar reported a significant increase in Uzbekistan-EU trade. In 2023, it grew by 11%, reaching €5.13 billion, Gazeta.uz reports.
According to the diplomat, the European Union is ready to support Uzbekistan through various cooperation mechanisms, including the GSP+ scheme, assistance in the WTO accession process and the implementation of the Partnership Agreement.
Klaar emphasised that these instruments serve to begin a new stage in bilateral relations.
Klaar noted the growing interest of European companies in investing in Uzbekistan’s economy, emphasising the significant potential for expanding trade and economic cooperation. An important area of cooperation is the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor Project, which was discussed at the Investment Conference in Brussels in January.
