Kyrgyzstan imposes temporary ban on increase in civil service salaries

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed the Decree on the three-year moratorium on a pay increase for civil servants, Sputnik quoted Erkin-Too Newspaper.

The measure, which is adopted to optimise budget expenditures, will come into effect on September 10, 2024 and be valid until late 2026. The document states that the moratorium on a pay increase will affect employees of government agencies, committees, regional offices of the President and local governments.

The Decree introduces restrictions on staff augmentation of government agencies. There can be exceptions, but each special case must be approved by President Japarov personally. The special department of the President’s Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers are to ensure that the Decree is executed.

Last time civil service salaries were increased in August 2022. This means that the period without salary indexation will exceed 4 years until the moratorium is lifted.
