Kazakhstan-Serbia trade exceeds $92 million

Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin took part in the 3rd meeting of the Kazakhstan-Serbia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The event focused on the prospects for expanding bilateral relations, including a significant increase in trade, the press office of the Government of Kazakhstan reported.

Serbia plays an important role in Kazakhstan’s trade relations with South-eastern Europe. In 2023, bilateral trade reached $91.2 million, which is 23.3% more than in 2022. Kazakhstan’s exports increased by 38.7%, reaching $11.4 million, while imports increased by 21.3%, reaching $79.8 million.

Serbia and Kazakhstan sold agricultural products to each other worth $2.7 million. The top imports from Serbia are corn, sunflower seeds and live plants, while Kazakhstan exports mainly buckwheat, millet and other grain crops.

Serik Zhumangarin emphasised that Kazakhstan is ready to offer Serbia more than 90 non-commodity goods worth over $500 million. This list includes the products of the metallurgical, petrochemical, food, chemical and mechanical engineering industries, as well as vehicles and building materials.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Amangaliy Berdalin said Kazakhstan is seeking to increase exports of legumes, onions, buckwheat, cereals and wheat to Serbia. It can offer fish, honey, poultry, horse meat, beef and dairy products. Kazakhstan is interested in importing breeding cows and breeding material for new dairy farms.
