On September 4, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov and Regional Representative for Central Asia of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Matilda Bogner held a meeting in Ashgabat, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
The parties reviewed the activities of the Interagency Commission towards ensuring the fulfilment of international human rights obligations and international humanitarian law. The interlocutors considered the tasks of implementing the National Action Plan on Human Rights in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, National Action Plan on Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025 and National Action Plan for Realization of Children’s Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023-2028.
Discussing the outcomes of the dialogue in the framework of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the Committee on the Rights of the Child, the participants emphasised the intention to cooperate in implementing recommendations in this area. Akhmet Gurbanov and Matilda Bogner expressed interest in expanding cooperation on Human Rights Education.
