The festive events took place in the Yangi Uzbekistan Park to mark the 33rd anniversary of independence of Uzbekistan. Speaking at the ceremony, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the Republic’s achievements for the years of independent development, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
In his speech, the Uzbek leader emphasised the importance of state independence, calling it an invaluable asset of Uzbekistan. Independence has enabled the Republic to revive statehood and enter a new era. Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that 2023 was a landmark year: Uzbekistan's GDP has exceeded $100 billion for the first time in the history of the Republic.
The World Bank forecasts Uzbekistan’s GDP to grow by 5.3% in 2024.
The President dwelt on ongoing significant reforms aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens. The improving economic state has enabled the country to raise pensions, social allowances and salaries of employees of budget organisations, teachers and medical workers.
