In his speech at the 6th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, President Sadyr Japarov called on the leaders of other states to promote cooperation in energy and sustainable water resources management.
He focused on the key areas of Kyrgyzstan’s economic growth and development, including the energy, mining, transport and logistics industries, noting that the Republic is developing steadily, as evidenced by the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects, the modernisation of airports and the construction of hydropower plants. Over the past 3 years, the revenues of the state budget have risen.
Japarov called for sustainable water resources management, focusing on energy conservation and increased energy efficiency.
The President emphasised the need to create an effective mechanism for water and energy cooperation in Central Asia. Such a mechanism should consider the energy, economic, environmental and social value of water, as well as the interests of the countries in the region in these spheres.
