Kyrgyzstan and EU to ramp up cooperation in hydropower

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubayev and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell held a meeting in Bishkek, at which they discussed bilateral cooperation in hydropower and transport, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The interlocutors paid special attention to ramping up political, economic and cultural cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union. They discussed the implementation of the roadmap for deepening ties between the European Union and Central Asia.

The agenda also covered regional security, climate change and support for projects aimed at promoting the prosperity of the Republic.

Jeenbek Kulubayev stressed that European technologies and investments are critical to the successful implementation of key transport, hydropower and mineral extraction projects. Josep Borrell said Europe is seeking to promote cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in the economy, trade, sustainable development and human rights.
