President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Movses Abelian to discuss various aspects of Tajikistan-UN cooperation, including water and climate issues, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.
Rahmon expressed gratitude to Abelian for promoting constructive interaction and organising conferences on numerous topics, in particular on water and climate issues.
The President underlined the important role of the UN in international affairs and noted the significance of the UN’s efforts to ensure lasting peace, stability and social development.
The interlocutors discussed the progress of the Dushanbe Water Process and the UN Water Conference, which will be held in Dushanbe in 2028 to achieve the objectives of the International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028.
