President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held talks together with the delegations of the two countries as part of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum in Tashkent. The parties discussed promoting cooperation and agreed to set up an Interstate Council, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The leaders agreed to strengthen ties at all levels and improve cooperation on the international arena. Mutual understanding and agreements on the importance of promoting economic relations were reached.
They discussed measures to increase trade, which envisages import substitution and comprehensive support for joint projects. A plan has been developed to bolster mutual supplies and adopt new tools to increase trade from $1 billion to $2 billion in the coming years.
Industrial cooperation projects were identified as an important area of cooperation. A new package of agreements was signed in such sectors as energy, logistics, electrical engineering, textile manufacturing and agriculture. The leaders discussed increasing the authorized capital of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan Fund to $200 million to support joint projects.
