WHO European course launched in Astana

The Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization launched the Public Health Leadership Course in Astana, the press office of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan reports.

Specialists from 8 countries of the WHO European Region, including Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, are participating in the course. It will last until July 12 and arise aimed at improving the leadership skills of public health specialists.

The course programme was developed under the WHO European Programme of Work, 2020-2025. It is designed to support the exchange of experiences and strengthen public health leadership competencies, which are necessary to address a variety of crises, such as armed conflicts, population displacement, climate change, overurbanization, energy crisis, socio-economic inequalities and the spread of fake information.

«The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of international cooperation and training public health professionals,» Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic Yerbol Ospanov emphasised.

Course participants will learn about best international practices and develop policy development competencies, which will help create an innovative network of young professionals at the international level.
