On July 5, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Ashgabat. National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov greeted the head of the international organisation at the airport, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported.
Hero-Arkadag noted that expanding cooperation with the United Nations is a foreign policy priority of Turkmenistan. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov assured that Turkmenistan will continue to be committed to stay the course for positive neutrality, peacefulness and good neighbourliness. The Chairman of Halk Maslahaty expressed gratitude to Antonio Guterres for supporting the constructive initiatives put forward by the Turkmen side to establish and maintain mutual understanding and trust on the planet.
The UN Secretary General said the international organisation views Turkmenistan as a reliable and responsible partner and is going to promote fruitful cooperation that meets the goals that are in the interests of common well-being and progress. Antonio Guterres thanked Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his significant contribution to strengthening bilateral cooperation and highly evaluated the efforts of the National Leader of the Turkmen people in preventing and reducing statelessness.
The interlocutors noted constructive bilateral contacts under the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2021–2025, which is the basic joint work plan. The parties noted with satisfaction the progress of cooperation in the social, economic, legal and humanitarian spheres, as well as in education, healthcare and ecology.
