The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan revised tariffs on medical services provided by maternity hospitals and neonatal units to improve their quality.
«On June 1, tariffs on complicated births, including caesarean sections, increased by 60% and on newborn care — by 35%,» the press office of the Ministry, headed by Akmaral Alnazarova, reported.
These changes are aimed at improving the list and quality of medical services, as well as attracting qualified specialists.
Over the past years, tariffs did not cover the costs that healthcare institutions incurred in providing care for mothers and newborns. Insufficient financing has become one of the reasons for accounts payable in these institutions. When recalculating tariffs, the real costs that healthcare institutions incurred in providing services were taken into account.
The measures to be taken will allow healthcare institutions to achieve financial sustainability, which, in turn, will improve the quality and affordability of health care for the population. It will be more comfortable and safer for mother and child to stay in maternity hospitals.
On June 1, tariffs for the healthcare institutions that provide neurological care, allergy treatments and rheumatic care to paediatric patients increased.
