Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan trade surges to $1.5 billion

Minister of Economy and Trade of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev held official talks with Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Madi Takiev, who arrived in Bishkek. They said bilateral trade has reached $1.5 billion, and the parties plan to increase it to $2 billion, the press office of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan reported.

They discussed expanding investment cooperation.

Madi Takiev said Kazakhstan is ready to strengthen and expand interaction with Kyrgyzstan. He emphasised that the Agreement on the Deepening and Expansion of Allied Relations and the Agreement on the Encouragement and Mutual Protection of Investments concluded in Astana boost partnerships.

Madi Takiev visited the Kordai and Karasu checkpoints during his trip to Kyrgyzstan. Particular attention was paid to the information systems operations. The Minister learned about the functioning of the automated risk management system that helps Kyrgyz customs officers identify potential violations that compromise the movement of goods.
