Tajik judokas win medals at tournament in Tashkent

The judokas from Tajikistan showed excellent results and won prizes at the Asian Open Cup, which was held in Uzbekistan. The Judo Federation of the Republic reported that 82 athletes performed at the tournament, Sputnik reports.

Abubakr Sherov performed most successfully in the under 73 kg weight category and won first place. The Tajik judokas Ilhomiddin Jabborov and Fazliddin Sadriddinzoda showed good results and took third place in the under 66 kg weight category. Ahliya Muminova (52 kg) won a bronze medal in the women’s tournament.

The Asian Judo Open Cup brought together more than 600 athletes from different countries of the region. The prize fund amounted to 200,000 euros, and the winners received cash prizes: 6,000 euros for first place, 4,000 euros for second place and 2,000 euros for third place. The athletes earned points that will help them rise in the world and Olympic ratings.

The cadets performed in 16 weight categories, and the juniors competed in 14 weight categories. These are the official rules of the International Judo Federation.
