Kazakhstan seeks to deepen investment partnerships with EU

Chairman of the Government of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov met with Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič to discuss expanding Kazakhstan- European Union cooperation in the trade, investment, energy, transport and logistics sectors, the press office of the Prime Minister reported to CentralAsia.news.

«Kazakhstan is seeking to deepen of investment partnerships and diversify bilateral trade with the European Union. Interaction in the production of critical raw materials has become increasingly important in recent years,» Smailov noted.

The Prime Minister emphasised that a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with   President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on the sidelines of the COP-27 Conference in 2022, which provides for practical measures to boost bilateral partnerships in the real sectors of the economy. Once implemented, these measures will give an additional impetus to achieve common goals in this field.

«My visit to the Republic confirms that we in the European Union see Kazakhstan as a very important and strategic partner. All the meetings with your ministers during the visit were a success. We discussed joint projects that we can work on together. We have a common agenda in terms of how to establish closer cooperation,» Maroš Šefčovič said, confirming the EU’s readiness to continue implement all the agreements reached.
