President of Kazakhstan takes part in Central Asian Summit in Cholpon-Ata

On June 2, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in the Second Summitt of Central Asia and the European Union in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

In his speech, the Kazakh leader noted the existing broad prospects for expanding multi-vector cooperation among the countries of Central Asia and the European Union, emphasising the progress of Kazakhstan in promoting partnerships with the EU characterised by an increase in European investments, trade indicators and the number of European companies operating in Kazakhstan. The President noted that about half of foreign investments attracted come to the country from the European Union.

Kazakhstan boosts cooperation with the EU in the extraction of minerals, green hydrogen production and the use of renewable energy. Kazakhstan is ready to increase the supply of non-primary goods to Europe in the food, engineering, steel and iron industries.

President Tokayev said the priority areas of Central Asia-EU cooperation include the transport and logistics sectors, including the development of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor and diversification of energy routes.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev highly evaluated the support of the European Union for the foreign policy initiatives of Kazakhstan and the large-scale social and economic reforms launched in the Republic.
