Uzbekistan and Iran set to increase bilateral trade up to $1 billion

The Uzbekistan-Iran Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation held the 15th meeting. The discussion focused on increasing bilateral trade to $1 billion per year, the press office of the Government of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Over the past 3 years, Uzbekistan-Iran trade has doubled. Seeking to maintain this positive trend, Iran and Uzbekistan agreed to sign an action programme aimed at increasing trade turnover to $1 billion per year.

The parties discussed future steps to boost investment cooperation and strengthen ties in the transport, logistics, economic, trade and industrial sectors. They coordinated specific steps to promote cooperation in agriculture and food security. The participants agreed to invite major companies to implement new joint projects.
