President of Tajikistan receives his portrait as gift from Chinese artist

President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received his portrait as a gift from a local artist San Chao Teng during his official visit to the People’s Republic of China. The President donated the painting to the National Museum of Tajikistan, the Khovar State News Agency reported.

The painting is on display in one of the large halls of the department of fine and applied arts of the Museum. It depicts Rahmon in a formal suit sitting at a desk. The artist also painted the chair of the head of state, the state flag and a green tree behind the President.

The Chinese artist portrayed Emomali Rahmon as a constructive and humane political figure, whose merits were recognized by the international community.

The President of Tajikistan was on an official visit to China on May 16-19.  He took part in the first China-Central Asia Summit, which was held in the city of Xi’an. PRC President Xi Jinping characterised Rahmon as a very experienced and wise statesman.
