Head of WHO highly appreciates approach of Turkmen leader to creating healthy society

A delegation of Turkmenistan arrived in Geneva to participate in the 76th session of the World Health Assembly. Officials met with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. He highly appreciated the approach of the president Serdar Berdimuhamedov to creating a healthy society. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen MFA.

The head of the World Health Organization noted that the leader of the Central Asian country and the head of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov carry out effective work on ensuring the availability of medical services and medicines, conducting comprehensive immunization campaigns, and integrating information technologies in the healthcare sector.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Minister of Health and Medical Industry Atageldi Germanov. He told Ghebreyesus about medical education, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and preventing non-communicable diseases in the state.

The head of the department also invited the WHO Director-General to visit Turkmenistan to participate in the third Ministerial Conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Ashgabat Declaration on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, which will be held in April 2024.
