Energy efficiency and energy conservation discussed in Bishkek

The participants of the international conference, which was held in Bishkek, discussed the ways to achieve energy efficiency and conserve energy in Kyrgyzstan, MIR 24 reports. According to the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, these are the most pressing issues today, and the window insulation and buildings energy efficiency programmes are being implemented.

About 20 small hydropower plants will be built in the country in 2023, and it is planned to build the same number of hydropower plants in 2024-2025. «Currently, a 300 MW solar power plant is being built in Toru-Aigyr village, Issyk-Kul Region,» Director of the Green Energy Fund under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Emilbek Orozbaev said.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of Kyrgyzstan, a working commission was set up to find the lands to build renewable energy facilities. About 50 power generation projects are underway; it is planned to add more than 200 MW in additional capacity this year.
